vacation

Last week we were on Island time...Fripp Island time. :) We were there for a 8 days with perfect weather (minus the one day they thought a tropical storm was coming through). 

Here are the highlights of our trip.  Our schedule was simple and relaxing...wake up, eat breakfast, head to the beach, eat lunch, nap, go out to play, swim, eat supper, and if there was time..end the day with a bike ride.

Sawyer loved the beach.  I was surprised at how well he played in the sand for such long periods of time.  My little cotton top :)

 Emma, Stella and Addie.  These girls helped look after the little ones.  They were good big sisters for the week, for sure....as Addie would say :)

 Almost everyday Wes, or as Stella called him most all week, "Jess", would catch fish for the kids to play with.  Stella and Sawyer both loved them.

I am so lucky to have a Mom and mother-in-law that sews.  Wasn't it on my list of things to learn this year?? I still have some time left. :)

A few weeks ago, Stella saw a dress made from "princess fabric" and fell in love.  For days, all she talked about was getting Mimi to make her a dress.  So, we looked at some fabric online and found this exact one in the store...we were so excited...of course, it was purple...her favorite color!

Mimi whipped it up with a lot of love and made Stella the happiest little girl in Denver :)

Mother's Day

Mother's Day...I don't feel like I should be in this category...not a mom, yet.  Some days I feel like I just graduated college, but I know, those days are gone.  Now, I have the best job in the world.  As "they" say, it's not always fun, easy, or glamorous, but it sure is the most rewarding.

  Michael and I are so blessed to have extraordinary Moms, in so many ways...they are the ones I like to celebrate...well, I like getting a free pedicure, too :)

25 random things

ok, so a good friend, Jenna, posted on her blog 25 random things and asked what ours were..so here goes, jenna :) (check hers out here)

1.  It's 8:54 and the house is quiet...aahhh
2.  my belly is so full from my surprise dinner date with Michael..KOBE
3.  i'm addicted to Kobe's eggrolls, and I like saying "eggroll" with an accent
4.  our waiter tonight would come check on us, but say "excuse me" as he left the table, not as he was approaching the table...:) 
5.  i'm hoping to paint my fingernails my classic pink this weekend..i've only been hoping that would happen for the past 2 weeks, now.
6.  i have a cake to do next week...this made me realize that i really do enjoy doing new cakes and designing them.
7.  i've realized that without a list in front of me i am hopeless
8.  i lost half of my brain cells when i had me second child
9.  thanks to body by vi, i think i've reclaimed 20% of them back :)
10.  previous random thing:  if you haven't tasted the body by vi shakes...guess what...i sell them :)
11. i hope sawyer sleeps all night...this teething thing is hard for him :/
12.  american idol is getting ready to come on, so i've got to hurry with my 25 random things. :)
13.  i went to put background vocals on a cd for my mom today...fun to pretend like i'm on american idol
14.  wonders when parenthood is coming back on...i love that show waaaay too much
15.  i'm glad the dishes are done (that was random)
16.  so glad it's almost vacation time
17.  it's weird that my goal (on vacation) is to plan a pacing guide for stella this fall...i'm excited about this, seriously
18.  no i'm not gonig to homeschool
19.  looking forward to celebrating with my mom and mom-in-law this weekend for mother's day
20.  i hope their gifts arrive at my doorstep tomorrow...(fingers crossed)
21.  wonders if cutting my bangs was a good idea ...some days
22.  wonders if i'll ever get my blogs to be what i really want them to be...if not, it's ok
23.  writing with cute pencils and colored sharpies make me smile
24.  anticipating that first sewing project...i think i can..i think i can...
25.  gotta go get this KOBE taste out of my mouth....maybe a little sweet tea in my "to-go" cup...i like to say "to-go" with an accent, too!
26....just so you know...american idol came on at 8:00. ( remember the brain cells i talked about earlier.. :)

princess teeth

Princess Stella had her first trip to the dentist today...the same dentist I've gone to my entire life. The only thing that's changed is the wallpaper and magazines...maybe.  We love Dr. Hoyle and don't know what we'll do when he ever decides to retire. 

Our conversation going in: Stella: "Mommy, I'm not so sure I want to be brave about the dentist"

me:  "oh, you'll be fine..."

Our conversation going out:  "My teeth are shining like princess teeth! Daddy will be so proud!"

 Miss Nicole talked to her about all the instruments and how they would tickle her teeth. Stella seemed to think it was funny.  Then, after Nicole told her she was going to make them shine like princess teeth, Stella was up for anything!

 I'm so proud of her first little visit.  :)

This past week we headed to Lineberger's Strawberry Farm to pick strawberries with our preschool group.  We've also been to the farmers market nearby, too.  I think between the four of us, we go through almost a gallon in a week!

 Believe it or not, I got every red drop of strawberry juice out of Sawyer's shirt!  My favorite new stain remover: RESOLVE!

 This picture was taken after Stella had been outside playing with Michael while I was putting Sawyer to bed. Working in the garden is not easy!  Do you see the dirt on her face?  She is a mess :)
