How is my Sawyer 2 years old today? Here are a few pics from his little world.

A little about Sawyer:

 

He's a man of few words.  He has a big vocabulary, but only uses 2-3 words at a time. 

Nods his head to say "yes" instead of just saying the word "yes"

Loves to jump in his crib "ump" "high"

attends Gymboree play and learn each Wed. and loves it

loves to run with "sissy"

loves trains and tractors

likes finding "bay bales" (hay bales) while riding down the road

will try almost any new food

loves to read "ooks" (books)

laughs out loud all the time- he and his sister are giggle boxes, for sure

loves to snuggle

loves for Mommy to sing Twinkle Little Star

 

We could've never imagined having a boy so full of life, rough at times, and loving, too.  We are so blessed.

snow day, well..normal friday :)

I know the kids love snow, but all I know is if it's calling for snow or ice...Michael works.  So, for some odd reason, whenever I know it's going to sleet or ice or snow...(even though we would be home anyway if it weren't snowing, sleeting, or icing)...we feel the need to join in on the "snow days" :)

We did a few pinterest projects to keep us busy. (Actually the first project was done a few days earlier than the icy Friday)

We mixed glue and shaving cream to make puffy snow...I thought it was really neat, Stella was aggravated because it wasn't smooth on her paper, and Sawyer was just happy to have a paintbrush.  I tried to explain that it was like snow...puffy and fluffy...oh well..the texture was really neat when it dried.

Our other project they enjoyed much more...making moldable snow.  We mixed 2 boxes of cornstarch and a can of shaving cream.

We made a few snowballs and snowmen, although the balls crumbled once they were on top of each other.  I think we needed more shaving cream to hold everything together a little more.

 

 Then, we brought out the snow plows...this was their favorite.

 

Then, we made snowman pancakes. :)

A couple years back, Stella got the BOB books for Christmas.  At first we didn't do a whole lot with them, but since we've been doing reading lessons, I was surprised that the BOB books go right along with all the sounds we learn in the same order! yay!!! Then, I found several sites with BOB book printables...different activities that go along with each book.  Here are a few activities we've done so far.  Tracking words and making sentences.

 

 

 The big words on the left are bubbles letters to fill with play-do...just another way of seeing the word in a different way and texture.

 

 As for Sawyer, we made an environmental print book.  I put in a few pages that we can add to...here are a few of his favorites that he knows how to "read'...spiderman gummies! :)

 While I was finishing up some things in the kitchen, Stella and Sawyer were really quiet (not normal) This is what I found...he was all hers...do you see the bandaid wrappers to the left?

a little of last week

Although it's been cold outside, we have had some pretty good play days.  I am so thankful to be able to be at home with these two everyday.  We are so blessed.

 

 

While Sawyer hammered away...(Stella loved this just as much as he did)...we played a game of rolling the dice and graphing with some of her favorite characters from one of her favorite shows, Doc McStuffins.  She had no clue she was doing math :)

Not long after breakfast one morning, everybody got into "doctor mode".  So, we gathered everything we needed and got to work on all the patients.

We have had the table out since Christmas (it was put away so we could have more room for the Christmas tree) and we've had the wooden food for at least a year.  I moved the table in front of different window and got out all the food and said it was our new deli and they have played there everyday, at least twice a day for long periods of time.  I guess it's good to change things up a little every now and again :)

rainy days, warm days...

Last week I fought a horrible cough and sinus junk, then Stella fought it pretty quickly, now Sawyer is getting over it.  Between the rain and all the coughing, we pretty much were home all last week...no gymboree or dance...just us and the toys :)

 

They both have been into building with the duplo blocks lately. Here's Stella's castle.

not sure why this is blurry...but I had to take it....he's been taking his clothes off in the mornings :)

Finally, a break from the rain and a pretty warm day to play. Either Stella has whiplash here or she's putting on her seatbelt...not sure which one :)

I love this...they were dancing to the music her car plays. hah!

Again, not sure why the book is clear,but Sawyer isn't...I must...or Sawyer must have put my camera on a different setting..hmmm...anyway...he loves "the wheels on the bus"

2013

 On New Years Eve we headed to Linebergers Steakhouse again and it was delicious as always. Being with these guys are the best.

A Nixon Christmas

Our last Christmas gathering was in Rockwell at our cousin Candace's house. Every year it gets better and better.  The kids love to play together and it's so nice seeing family.
