If you moustache...

If you "moustache" or, if you "must ask", I'm 30!   I have the best friends and family ever to throw such a fun party for my big debut to the 30's club. Michael told me we were going out of town for the night, so I was expecting something out of the ordinary.  So, around 5:00, Mom came over so we could leave.  We headed to Charlotte, where he said we had reservations.   Then, all of a sudden he asked if there were any tickets in my door, because we would need them for the reservations.  Of course, there was nothing in my door, so he turned around and pretended to be rushing home to get the tickets so we could arrive back in downtown Charlotte at our designated time.  I fell for it, for real.  Then, as we were about to pull in the driveway, he kept going, passing our house, which led to the big surprise.  His words were, "well, since we're late for our reservations, we might was well go somewhere close."  Then, he pulled into Brooklyn Brother's Pizza where everybody was waiting.

Chocolate cake with raspberry filling and Marilyn's famous Orange Mandarin Cake.  I think we all ate a little way too much that night.

around here...

I can't believe the month of September is almost over....here are a few things we did to celebrate apples and all the other things in our world :)

Instead of making plans about what to learn each week, like I did last year, I decided to make a board of fun, learning, "stuff", that Stella and Sawyer could see and be involved with.  We put a worm on the apple once we completed the task.

a few of our apple crafts...

we made a book about apples...I love her apple drawing :)

Stella surprising me with writing words as I sounded them out...she LOVES this... "me, rat, mat"

enjoying the cooler days....painting our gas tank for when Stella's mustang runs out of gas...like it does, most days :)

Stella putting stamps all over her that I thought would wash off easily....well...they didn't!

fun in the bath...they almost look like twins...time goes by way to fast, these days...

Literally...my brain checked out today for a while without telling me. The kids and I had our normal Thursday...errands and playtime this morning, then lunch, followed by rest and naps.  I got busy on checking some things off that was on my list of things to do today.  I cooked supper, made cake bites, answered emails, washed clothes...and the list goes on.  After naps, we headed to meet a friend, then went to the church to play with more friends.  About 5:20, I said, "let's go, time for dance class!"  I walked in and sat waiting for it to be 5:30, so Stella could start class...then all of a sudden, I looked at another mom and said... "did they already go back early?" She said, "it started at 5:00." Seriously...no rush, no hurry, my brain just completely checked out.  Luckily, the teacher was nice enough to let her stay for the next class.  Oh, and on the way out, the teacher says, "we have her flip flops and tap shoes she left here last week, too!"

Yes, I should be doing about 50 other things right now, but I thought this was hilarious....it wasn't like we were running late, or even busy with other things...I was just completely lost.  Hopefully the memory will come back tomorrow...is this what happens when you turn 30?  I am 30, right? ;)

Apple Hill Orchard

Time for the apple orchard!  We went on a little field trip with our friends again this year....minus one...Jake is already in school! We learned about how apples are sorted, what they are used for, how to pick them and even how different they taste!  Here's our tour guide teaching us about the yucky apples verses the good ones.

Learning and watching how apple cider is made.  This is the best stuff ever :)

A close up of the cider being squeezed out :)

A little lesson on bees and their jobs.

Stella picking her apples and Sawyer's hand...

an attempt to get a group picture before our tractor ride around the orchard!

I think this was Sawyer's favorite part.  Anything that involves a tractor! :)  Stella seemed to enjoy it too...especially the bumpy parts!

time for lunch...

one more attempt in front of the red wall :)

On the way home, Stella showed me her drawing and said, "look at her funny teeth" I thought this was hilarious. :)  I like her curly hair, too!

The weather couldn't have been better...we were so excited to wear pants and feel the cool fall breeze! :)  hmm....I think I might get the fall decorations out real soon!

much better...

I'm in the process of organzing Stella's closet...again....didn't I just do this? Well, with birthday and Christmas coming up, I knew it was time to re-organize some things.  So, one of my little projects was to make something for her headbands to go on...I found this simple project on pinterest.  All you need is some fabric, and a paper towel roll.

This was driving me crazy...I didn't even know what she had because we couldn't see everything!

So I wrapped the fabric around the paper towels..I even hot glued two dowel rods to the bottom, so in case we decided to lay it horizontal, it wouldn't roll...it worked perfectly.

Now, Stella acts likes she just got 10 new headbands!  She had forgotten all about them...until now! :)
